The Westonka High School football team was recently selected by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association as a 2025 Academic All-State Gold Team. In order to earn Academic All-State Gold honors, a team’s entire varsity roster must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.26 or above. The White Hawks boast a 3.395 cumulative team GPA. This is the ninth time in Coach David’s thirteen seasons at the helm that the White Hawks football team has earned the distinguished honor of being selected as an Academic All-State Gold or Silver Team.
In addition to the team recognition, Senior Captain Brandt Tebbs was selected to the Individual Class 4A Academic All-State Football Team. Academic All-State team members must be a senior varsity letterman for the current season who are starters on offense, defense, or special teams.
Selected players must have outstanding football and leadership abilities in addition to academic excellence. They must carry a 3.0 (4.0 scale) grade point average in an academic core curriculum in their sophomore, junior, and first quarter of their senior years and must not have any Minnesota State High School League eligibility penalties or infractions during their high school careers.
Brandt Tebbs carries a 3.94 cumulative GPA and excelled on the football field throughout his career earning All-District accolades in 2024 and 2025. Tebbs was also a team captain, a 3-year starter, and a 3-year letter winner for the White Hawks. Tebbs finished his outstanding football career defensively with 249 total tackles, 14 TFL's, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble, 1 interception, and 10 pass deflections. Offensively, Tebbs had 21 receptions for 305 yards and 4 TD's as well as gained 69 yards rushing on 14 carries. Tebbs also played a huge role on Special Teams over his three seasons on varsity finishing with 18 kick-off returns for 327 yards (15.3 average) and 6 punt returns for 86 yards (16.63 average).
Off the football field Tebbs is a Student Ambassador, a House Captain, a Chambers Choir Section Leader, a Leadership Academy Student, and a Church Youth Group Leader. Tebbs is also a standout baseball player in the spring. Tebbs plans on continuing his education next fall with hopes of majoring in architecture.
