The Mound Westonka White Hawks dominated every aspect of the game in their 41-0 win over the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders on Friday night.

Junior wide receiver Logan Leonard was a triple threat on offense, running and throwing for touchdowns, to go with three receptions for 32 yards.

Leonard began the White Hawks' scoring rush with a 41-yard score on a jet sweep in the first quarter.

In the second, he went to the air, throwing on a jet sweep hand-off, hitting senior Cameron Oates for a 32-yard touchdown reception to extend the Mound Westonka lead to 14-0.

That creativity in the play calling works well with the skill-set of the White Hawk receivers.

"They are not actually trick plays for us. Logan Leonard and Trent Bowe both played QB earlier in their high school careers and to have a throwing threat with them as well as a run threat in our jet sweep package really gives defenses fits as they can't fly up into the box to stop the run because they have to honor the pass," Head Coach Nick David said after the game.

From there, the Week 1 star of the White Hawks' 29-8 win over Holy Family, quarterback Tyler Von Bank, would take over passing duties.

The sophomore signal caller found senior running back Adam Nobs for a 45-yard touchdown reception to give Mound Westonka a 21-0 lead heading into halftime.

Success on the jet sweep would continue after the break, with junior wide receiver Trent Bowe rushing five-yards to the house to extend the lead to 28-0 in the third quarter.

In the fourth, Von Bank found senior tight end Zac Babb for a 44-yard touchdown score, capping off a night where he would gain 133 yards through the air and another 54 on the ground on seven carries.

In the fourth quarter, sophomore running back Cris Christensen rattled off 61 yards on just three carries, including a 32-yard touchdown to bring the final score to 41-0 in favor of the White Hawks.

"What is great about football is that it allows us to get a lot of players into each game unlike other sports. It is always our goal to get as many players, if not everyone, into the varsity game each and every week. Our expectations when our young back-ups get in there are no different from that of the starters. They are an integral part of each week of game planning playing scout squad so they are very familiar with the different schemes we are trying to execute. It is so beneficial to be able to get our young back-ups varsity minutes under the lights on Fridays as then when they do become starters in the future they are prepared and ready to go."

Mound Westonka out-gained St. Croix Lutheran nearly 3:1, racking up 436 total yards on offense.

The defense was just as stingy as last week in the shut-out effort, limiting the Crusaders to 166 total yards and two turnovers.

Juniors Tucker Anderly (12 tackles), Michael Nolen (11 tackles), Leonard (7 tackles, 4 solo) and Bowe (2 tackles, interception), along with seniors Isaiah Dempsey (9 tackles, forced fumble) Dylan Albert (8 tackles) and Noah Lietzau (5 tackles, fumble recovery) stood out on the stat sheet in the overall smothering of the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders attack.

"Anytime you record a shutout you got to be happy as a defensive coach. St. Croix Lutheran runs the veer as good as anyone and is extremely difficult to stop as every player on defense is assigned a player on offense. We were really proud of our boys as they stayed disciplined in what each of their jobs were to do on every play. We were able to stop the dive back thus forcing St. Croix to get to the third phase of their offense, the pitch, which we did a great job containing."

The White Hawks will look to extend their record to 3-0 when hosting the Providence Academy Lions this Friday. 9/13 with a starting game time of 7:00pm.
